Outside Lands 2009

This past weekend I went to Outside Lands 2009 and had an awesome time.

I volunteered with Global Inheritance again, helping them out with setting up their booth and running the Recycling Store that they had going. Basically, collecting bottles in exchange for cool festival merchandise as a kind of clean up the park for stuff thing. For example, you could trade in 75 plastic bottles for an Outside Lands T-Shirt. Pretty good idea. Some people took it really seriously and brought in bags of bottles. All the volunteers had a great time.

In terms of bands that I saw, there were quite a few that I got to see. While the lineup was not as good as Coachella, it was pretty dam good. While I only took pictures for Dave Matthews Band and Incubus, I also saw Blind Pilot, Dengue Fever, Jason Mraz, Pearl Jam, Black Eyed Peas, Cage the Elephant, Thievery Corporation, Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears, Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue, M.I.A, The Dead Weather, and Atmosphere. My favorites by far were DMB, CtE,TC, TS & OA, and Atmosphere. I have embedded a slideshow of the photos below, but feel free to check them out in bigger sizes on my photo site here.

I also recorded a couple of videos including Anna Molly by Incubus and The Heart's a Lonely Hunter by Thievery Corporation. They are embedded below. Be sure to click HD as both are in high-def.

Coachella 2009 - Global Inheritance, Golf Carts, and the Bio Diesel Golf Cart

Along with seeing a ton of great bands, I was also priveldged to participate in Global Inheritance's 18 and Up Alternative Energy Golf Car Exhibit. Global Inheritance is a fantastic organization that promotes youth activism and education.

As part of their exhibit, the Bio Diesel Golf Cart Project was selected as one of their six golf carts. Our cart's design was modeled after the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, who I am told drove it on stage during their show (pictures when I get them, as I wasn't there when they performed. It looked great and you can see some pictures of it below.

In addition, there were also 5 other golf carts there modeled after artists including: Franz Ferdinand, M.I.A., Paul McCartney, Turbonegro, and Amy Winehouse (pictures below).

I also made a video tour of the booth, which will be posted as soon as I can put it up.

It was a really cool exhibit and I was proud to be a part of it.

Thanks again to Global Inheritance for their amazing hospitality while we were there, you guys rock!
