So, this past weekend I was at the Coachella Music Festival in Indio, California.
It was nothing short of an amazing experience.
In this post, I will talk about all of the bands that I saw and the experience I had.
On to the good stuff.
In total, I saw We Are Scientists, Franz Ferdinand, Morrissey, Paul McCartney, on Friday and TV on the Radio, Thievery Corporation, M.I.A., and The Killers on Saturday. For the first three bands, yes, including McCartney, I was in basically the fifth row and I have pictures and videos (coming later this week) to prove it. For the Saturday bands, I was first row. I hi-fived M.I.A I was so close.

Franz Ferdinand was fantastic. I did not think they would be very good live, but they surprised me, playing a lot of their new album, along with some of their best old stuff. Great show.
Morrissey was a HUGE disappointment. I not only dislike his music, but his showmanship was not great either. This was the only band I did not like the entire weekend.
Paul McCartney. What can I say, if you have never seen him, you need to. Right now. Go out and find his next tour location. He is a living legend and he gave a spectacular concert. I had seen him once before in Arizona, but this was something else. He went for almost an hour past his time limit, and he was having a great time. It was just a great show. I will be uploading some videos I have that are just unbelievable.
TV on the Radio was also great. I had never heard of them before, but I really enjoyed their performance. It was a solid show.
Thievery Corporation is an interesting band. Again, I never heard of them, but they put on a hell of a show. Great to see live. In listening to their music back home, it is definitely better live.
M.I.A. was my second favorite concert after McCartney. While I don't really like her music on the whole just to listen to, she put on a hell of a spectacular show. At one point, she said she "needed dancers on stage". So, about 100 people swarmed the stage and it turned in to a giant dance party. Security was freaking out. It was a sight to see, and I will be uploading a video of it soon. She also came down in to the press area and started hi-fiveing fans, like me! There are definitely benefits to being in the first row, other than the fact you are in the first row :)
The Killers were O.K. live. I don't mind their music and I think they have talent, but they just don't have the catalogue of music to do a two hour live show. Maybe in a couple of years. This was a middle of the road show.
Overall, the weekend was amazing. I camped out with one of my best friends, along with 25,000 other campers in Indio. Got about 12 hours of sleep over 4 days, but it was totally worth it. I really want to go next year as well.
Check back soon for videos of Paul McCartney and M.I.A!
