    An Examination of the Return on Investment for Social Media Advertising: New Metrics for a New Age

    As I have recently developed an increased interest in social media and the ways it affects our daily live, I decided to conduct a research project regarding one specific aspect of these new mediums: social media advertising.

    As such, below is my examination of the return on investment for social media advertising and the metrics associated with measuring said returns. Social media marketing, such as advertisements on social media web sites Twitter, Facebook and YouTube , has increased exponentially in recent years. This paper attempts to examine the possible ramifications of social media advertising in addition to the return on investment, or ROI, of social media marketing in more general terms. In addition, a review of current and future metrics in regards to social media advertising is presented. This article also presents research comparing social media campaigns with corresponding real world results.
